Fettis dagen - Fat Tuesday
Today is 'fettis dagen' and all of Sweden endulge in 'semlor' (cardamon buns with marsipan and whipped cream) I had in a bright moment a plan to bake at home, but since i rarely succeed in using the dry yeast available in Singapore (or Any dry yeast for that matter...), we were grateful to be invited to a friend's 'semle' party - and the 'semlor' were superb!!!
After the Swedish tradition, which Hannah & Matilde weren't overly impressed about, they wanted Singapore food and we went to a halker stall to get chicken rice :-)

Xmas celebration 2015
After around 15 years abroad, we are used to celebrate Xmas outside Scandinavia, and have built up our own traditions. Santa always visits us on Dec 24th, different 'Santas' every year, and this year he had a British Accent :-)
Last two years, we have had a Danish style Xmas, with some Japanese and Swedish touch.
Most appreciated gift this year…. think Hannah takes the price with her very moderate alarm clock :-)

Happy Diwali
Diwali is approaching (Nov 10-11th) and both girls had celebration in school today. Performances, henna, rangoli, various yummy food stalls - very excited girls!
Diwali is an Hindu festival of light, and one of the largest and brightest celebrations in India. Can compare it with Xmas and Chinese New Year, in my humble opinion.

Hannah 7 years old
Our wonderful, super cool, talkative, determined, giggly Hannah turns 7 years old (where did the time fly…) and she had a pool party to celebrate with her best buddies. Instead of gifts this year, she asked for donations for charity. She'll donate the money to 'Together for Charity', who works for less fortunate children in Asia.
Thanks to the generous friends of Hannah who jointly participated for the donation <3

Summer has started!!
The girls and Morten get a 2 months summer break in Scandinavia - lucky them!!
First impression - cold!! Hats were out, long sleeves, SOCKS!; the girls for sure are getting a weird understanding of 'summer'….!
One week was spent with Danish grandparents, and the kids (and hopefully grandparents!) had a blast! I was rather nervous they would completely switch to Danish, but seems the Swedish sticks when talking to me - and Morten ironically enough :-)

Matilde's 5th Bday party
Celebration of Matilde's 5th birthday party took place today, 1.5 month prior to her birthday… I guess that's the name of the game when your bday is in the middle of summer and none of your friends will be in the same country… :-)
Great afternoon, kids looked happy, bday-girl-to-be even happier <3 Thanks to all her friends (and families) for spending the afternoon celebrating our baby girl!

Cold Storage Family Fun Run 2015
Great arrangement of a family run by Cold Storage! Kids, and adults, had a great time and pleased with the races. The girls learned the hard way starting a 800 M race with sprint isnt the smartest... :-)

Cinnamon buns
Mother's Day combined with jet lag for the mom - cinnamon bun baking on the agenda :-)
For some reason, the buns down grow as well as back in Sweden…. I'm using frozen yeast so assume that's the reason… Any advice how to get the buns to grow better (or how to work with dry yeast) would be highly appreciated!

Japan Skiing :-)
One week skiing in Sahoro, Japan - greatest vacation ever!!
We stayed at ClubMed, Hokkaido Sahoro, and was definitely a wise choice; children loved the kids club and had the greatest time learning how to ski, perform on stage, play with each other and the overly energetic staff - and the parents got to enjoy the slopes :-)
Great to have friends Asa & Viktor with kids joining and to see all the kids loving each other's company!!
This is the first time we skied together as a family - and definitely not the last time - a family activity to be continued :-)
