Christmas in Singapore

Far away from family back in Sweden and Denmark - good we have lovely friends to celebrate with!!

With two 50/50 Swedish/Danish families, there was of course a discussion whether it should be a Danish or Swedish Xmas dinner - however, since the Danes were considerably better in the kitchen, they won…. and I was happily eating Duck, Turkey, sugar-glaced potatoes and all the rest :-) Morten did prepare a Swedish style ham for me, and I baked some type of Xmas bread (vörtbröd attempt)...

Santa is a given at Christmas and for the second year in a row, our dear Australian neighbor Justin did a great performance as Santa!

Christmas Day was spend with a Danish/Singaporean family with BBQ, gifts, and all that comes with that :-)

Snow in Singapore...

... or at least an attempt To get The kiddos The experience of a snowy feeling :-) Hannah & Matilde LOVED it, and Morten & I enjoyed seeing The excitment over The 'snow'!

Afterwards, we went For hot chocolate, pretending we were freeezzzzzing cold. Good The A/C was on as it was 28 degrees outside...!

Gingerbread house in the making

Gingerbread house in Singapore is simply a no-go…. the humidity makes the house pieces get all soggy, the icing melt (at least it makes nice falling snow on the house…) and the M&Ms slide down… Where to keep the house once finished? In the fridge is the only place where it will survive…

Despite all negative comments about the gingerbread house above, it's still worth making it as the kids loved the messy play and sneak the 'house decoration' into their mouths :-)

X-mas preparation…..

Time to start getting the Xmas feeling in Singapore… good the weather was on our side as rainy all day (at least we pretended it was all cool outside - and turned up the A/C to freezing inside :-)

Peaceful gingerbread cookies in the making…. or at least for the first round. Then Matilde realized that the dough was insanely good and when her was gone, war broke out….. lovely…. :)

SWEA Christmas lunch

SWEA arranges a Chrsitmas lunch every year at The Swedish embassy residence. Great Swedish Christmas food (especially since ill end up raring predominately Danish for Xmas...) and nice company! 🎅

Swedish Children's X-mas Party

SWEA arranged 'Barnens julfest' today at the British Club. Super arrangement - crafts, games, dance around the Xmas tree, gingerbread cookies, and 'fishing pond' (fisk damm). As the grand finale, movie time showing the Xmas Eve Donald Duck show, meaning quiet kids and the parents could enjoy a cup of coffee in peace :-)

Sisterly love - last day

China town visit with hawker lunch followed by cooling down in the pool - exhausted kiddos, exhausted adults - good ending of a great visit, come soon again :-)
